Vermont Governor Jim Douglas Tours Drew's Manfacturing Facility
Governor Jim Douglas toured Drew’s headquarters and manufacturing facility here today as part of a visit to Windsor County, VT to promote niche marketing efforts.
Said Governor Douglas, “We aren’t dependent on one large industry, like Michigan is with the automobile industry, or like those states which depend on oil or gas. But we have manufacturing, higher education, agriculture and health care. Diversification is critical.”
Governor Douglas continued, “The label says it all – people really do care where their food comes from.” (Referencing the “Vermont Made” logo on the packaging.) “Attorney General (Bill) Sorrell takes our labeling requirements very seriously. The Vermont brand is very powerful.”
Referencing economic challenges of the state, Governor Douglas said, “A moderate tax burden is necessary to keep the companies here and we need to maintain a talented work force. We’re doing everything we can to grow jobs and keep more families here.”
Drew’s, employing 30 people in Chester, is proud to be doing its part to contribute to that effort.
